The Audit Commission recently published the 2006 CPA Scores for single tier and unitary councils. The Audit Commission says
In the South East region, four councils have gained stars, with West Sussex and Oxfordshire moving up to the highest 4 star rating, and Milton Keynes and West Berkshire improving from 2 to 3 stars. Surrey, with 3 stars, is the only council in the region to have dropped a star rating between 2005 and 2006.
Four of the region's 19 single tier and county councils Kent, Hampshire, Oxfordshire and West Sussex - are now 4 star councils. A further thirteen have been awarded 3 stars, which means that all but one of the region's councils now appear in the Commission's top two categories. Isle of Wight is the only 2 star council, and none of the councils in the region is in the lowest two categories of 0 or 1 stars. Buckinghamshire's rating is currently under review.
