Draft Terms of Reference
The Culture* and Communities Sub-group aims to ensure the diverse communities and residents of South East England benefit from opportunities presented by the Olympic and Paralympic Games London 2012 in a measured, lasting and meaningful way. The Culture and Communities Sub-group will:-
- Ensure that the residents of the South East receive the maximum benefit from the Cultural Olympiad and other cultural aspects of 2012
- Ensure that the artists, arts organisations, creative businesses, heritage, museums, libraries etc*. gain maximum benefit from the cultural aspects of 2012
- Ensure that issues affecting culture and community participation are taken into account in the work of the other sub-groups and of SEG2012
- Ensure the diversity of the regions communities inform all areas of planning, engagement and delivery
- Identify and publicly articulate participatory priorities in consultation and agreement with key stakeholders
- Advocate the potential benefits of the South EastՒs engagement with The Games
- Act as a conduit of information between SEG2012 and community stakeholders
- Ensure that consideration to sustainability lies at the core of its work
