Sir Harry Secombe, one of the original members of the Goon Show lived near Cranleigh, and is buried at Cranleigh Parish Hall (he died on 11 April 2000). As well as being comedian, he was a trained singer) and author of children's books, a diet book and a contributor to Punch magazine.

Arts Council Policy: Children and Young People

The Arts Counci's actions are to:

  • Work with regional and local children's services to implement the Children, young people and the arts strategy in each region
  • Create pathways to education, training and employment through creativity via programmes with the Youth Justice Board and others
