Festivals

The South East has more festivals than any other region and the biggest mixed arts festival – the Brighton Festival – in the country

A SEE-IN partner

Renaissance South East Skills Bank

South East Museums have free access to the Skills Bank, part of the Sharing Skills programme, which is a pilot scheme aimed at helping museums in the region to make the most of local resources and share skills. It is a comprehensive online listing of people and organisations across the South East willing to share their expertise and experience with others for free. Skills available through the bank include preventive conservation, photography, design, strategic marketing and PR.

Partnership organisations include:
Museums in the South East Hub:
Hampshire County Council Museums and Archive Service (lead partner)
Oxford University Museums
Royal Pavilion, Libraries and Museums, Brighton and Hove
Chatham Historic Dockyard

We are trying to create a skill-sharing culture, where museums can establish good practice and access training. Museums regularly need answers to very specific queries. Our aim was to capitalise on the resources and skills available locally, and to encourage the exchange of advice and support.Ӕ Laura Williams, Regional Museum Development Manager, MLA South East/South East Hub

Nearly 200 museum, library and archive staff are included in the South East Skills Bank, and there are plans to extend the banks to other skill areas list in Autumn 2006
