The Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) enables communities to celebrate, look after and learn more about our diverse heritage. From museums and historic buildings to parks and nature reserves to celebrating traditions, customs and history, the HLF has awarded over 3.3 billion to projects that open up our nations heritage for everyone to enjoy.

Big Lottery Fund is responsible for giving out half the money for good causes raised by the National Lottery, giving us a budget of about գ630 million a year. We are committed to bringing real improvements to communities and the lives of people most in need.


The Architectural Heritage Fund - www.ahfund.org.uk
The Architectural Heritage Fund is a registered charity founded in 1976 to promote the conservation of historic buildings in the UK. It does this by providing advice, information and financial assistance in the form of grants and  low interest working capital loans for projects undertaken by building  preservation trust (BPTs) and other charities throughout the UK.


Local Authority Funding
Some Local Authorities may provide funding for the historic environment.  For example, match-funding for Heritage Economic Regeneration Schemes, or Townscape Heritage Initiatives.
