Kent Thameside

The Kent Thameside Regeneration Framework sets out the aim of creating a
distinctive and vibrant destination of choice through the development of successful communities that capitalise on the rich heritage of Dartford, Gravesham and the River Thames.

The importance of heritage is recognised in the vision itself, and indeed within a Heritage Strategy which complements the Regeneration Framework. Culture in the broader sense also features strongly within the Regeneration Framework. In particular:

  • Kent Thameside acknowledges that there are some good leisure, cultural and sport opportunities [but] some key deficits in the range of provision available locally, and that there is a need for additional facilities.
  •  the Strategic Objectives acknowledges that a range of cultural and leisure facilities is central to integrating new and existing communities and improving quality of life.
  • The Priority Programme Themes propose to improve the retail, leisure and cultural offers of Dartford and Gravesham town centres, and, throughout the design, development and implementation process to use culture, heritage, leisure tourism and sport to assist in building a sustainable environment and community.
