Print friendly version

The Children’s Plan includes actions to help young people enjoy happy, healthy and safe teenage years that prepare them for adult life and keep them on the path to success. They include increasing participation in positive activities through:

  • investment in places for young people to go and things for them to do, specifically:
    • £60 million to improve youth facilities in advance of funding released from the proposed unclaimed assets scheme
    • £160 million over two years to improve the quality and range of provision
  • an entitlement for all young people to participate in positive activities including sport and cultural opportunities in and out of school
  • piloting a new cultural offer for children and young people to take part in five hours of high quality cultural activities each week, as informed spectators, participants and creators
  • establishing a Youth Culture Trust to run the cultural offer pilots, oversee the Creative Partnerships scheme and promote cultural activities more widely.
