Preventing violent extremism is a CLG action plan. It aims to win the hearts and minds of Muslim communities and prevent individuals being attracted to violent extremism by:

• promoting shared values
• supporting local solutions
• building civic capacity and leadership
• strengthening the role of faith institutions and leaders.

Pathfinder case studies include an approach to using sport and cultural programmes to engage young Muslims who are not in education, training or employment and lack positive aims. It provides a platform to improve self-esteem, confidence and the development of other skills as positive alternatives to doctrines of hate.
