The following examples of indicators for improving health and wellbeing have been taken from Sustainable Community Strategies up to the end of 2007 and round 1-3 Local Area Agreements:
- The percentage of the adult population participating in at least 30 minutes of sport and active recreation (including walking and cycling) of at least moderate intensity on at least 3 days a week.
- The percentage of 5 -16 year olds who spend a minimum of (x) hours each week (e.g. 2, 5 etc) on high quality PE and school sport within and beyond the curriculum.
- The percentage of 5 to 16 year olds who travel to school using sustainable modes of transport, including ‘active transport’ (cycling, walking etc.).
- Use of local authority cultural/sports facilities – in particular by priority groups, for example amongst 11-19 year olds, social class D/E, over 60 year olds, BME, people with disabilities.
- The percentage of the adult population who are members of a sports club or club where they do sport.
- The percentage of people in the community (and from priority groups) who:
- have participated in an arts activity
- have used a public library service
- have used a park or open space
at least (x) times per week/month/year (e.g. once a week, twice a month, once in the last 12 months etc).
