Examples of local performance indicators - attendance

The following examples of indicators for attendance have been taken from Sustainable Community Strategies up to the end of 2007 and round 1-3 Local Area Agreements:

  • The percentage of people in the community who:
    • have attended an arts event
    • have visited a museum or gallery
    • have visited at least two historic environment sites
    • have visited a local visitor attraction
    • have used a park or open space
    • have used a public library service

at least (x) times per week/month/year (e.g. once a week, twice a month, once in the last 12 months etc)

  • Use of local authority cultural and sports facilities – in particular by priority groups, for example amongst 11-19 year olds, social class D/E, over 60 year olds, BME, people with disabilities.
  • The percentage of the adult population who are members of a sports club or club where they do sport.
  • Active library borrowers as a percentage of the population.
  • The take up of access to leisure cards (in targeted wards).
  • Numbers of a) looked after children and b) vulnerable/need to reach groups accessing free/subsidised cultural and sports services.
  • Number of older people receiving direct payments for cultural, leisure or recreational activities.
  • Take up of culture, play and sport holiday schemes by young people, including young people with physical, sensory or learning disabilities and from BME groups.
  • Number of young people attending summer reading schemes or homework clubs/study support based in libraries.
  • Number of young people attending youth sports nights regularly.
  • Numbers of swims and visits to pools and sports centres per 1000 population. 
  • Number of visitors to (named) visitor attractions.
  • Numbers of pupils/numbers of visits by education groups to Council museums/galleries/cultural facilities.
  • Number of people receiving an ‘At Home’ Library Service as a percentage of the total number of older people helped to live at home.
  • Number of books on prescription issued by GPs and lent by libraries.
