The new ‘Place Survey’ will replace the Best Value User Satisfaction Survey and the Planning, Benefits and Library surveys previously carried out. Twenty indicators from the national indicator set related to citizen’s perspectives will be collected in autumn each year. The first results are due to be published in 2009.

One of the Place Survey questions is a specific culture question:

‘Have you attended a museum or art gallery in your local area at least once in the last 12 months?’

Other questions relate to civic participation, involvement in regular volunteering and general satisfaction with the local area but are not specific to culture.
