The South East is experiencing significant growth. As well as the housing development in the three designated Growth Areas , more than half the new homes planned will be built elsewhere in the region.

Growth is not just about housing. Culture and sport help to create and build sustainable communities, making distinctive places where people want to live, work and play. Ensuring that new and existing residents have access to high quality open space, sports and cultural provision are a vital part of the growth agenda.

The need to respond to the housing, economic, transport, environmental and other challenges facing the region is set out in the South East Plan which provides a spatial framework for other regional strategies.
