Creating Cultural Opportunities

in development

Creating Cultural Opportunities in Sustainable Communities is a national project funded by the Government's Invest to Save initiative to create a Cultural Planning Toolkit. The toolkit will provide a set of tools that helps people to embed culture in the sustainable communities agenda at a local level. This will help planners in the South East get to grips with ensuring cultural activity is embedded in the Thames Gateway, Milton Keynes South Midlands and the Ashford growth areas.

The toolkit will cover

  • assessing cultural infrastructure needs
  • planning for its provision and sustainable management
  • securing developer contributions

The draft toolkit is due to be produced later this year, and dissemination and publication will take place in early 2008.
