The Cultural Sector in the South East

The cultural sector in the South East is more than industry, more than artistic practice, more than entertainment. Because cultural activity has so much breadth and depth, it is hard to define. However, we believe that the cultural sector in the South East includes

  • Cultural agencies, networks, organisations and trusts
  • Creative industries, from multi-million pound hi-tech digital organisations to individual entrepreneurs and specialists
  • Cultural infrastructure e.g. playgrounds, theatres, galleries, museums
  • Culture at work in other sectors e.g. art in hospitals, yoga in village halls, creative writing in prisons
  • Cultural volunteers e.g. sports coaches, National Trust volunteers
