SEESEL: Action Plan
It is said that the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games will be the largest cultural event ever to be held in the UK. As a transport gateway to London and a region hosting Olympic events (flatwater canoe/kayak competitions will take place at Dorney Lake in Berkshire), the pressure will be on the South East to meet the needs of competing teams and the demands of spectators and the media.
As well as presenting the South East with a unique challenge,
London 2012 also provides the inspiration to develop much needed skills. The region has recognised major opportunities to utilise the power of the Games to deliver a far reaching education, skills and employment legacy.
"Improving the skills of people in the region will leave a legacy in terms of higher productivity, more sustainable communities and enhanced cultural and sporting venues and activities"SEESEL
Over 150 stakeholders have come together to form the South East Education, Skills and Employment group for the London 2012 Games (SEESEL) and produce a regional Action Plan.
SEESEL forms a sub group to both the Regional Skills for Productivity Alliance (RSPA) and the South East Partnership for the 2012 Games (SEP), with further expert assistance provided by the RSPA 14-19 Task Group, LSC Action for Business Group, Skills for Business Network Regional Group and the LSC Action for Communities Group.
SEESEL supports the regional delivery of the government's Education and Employment & Skills Programmes, which aim to maximise education and employment & skills benefits nationally.
